# ℹ About the Gauge Proposals Category

This category is for all discussions and proposals related to new gauge additions within the YieldNest DAO.

### 📌 What is a Gauge?

A gauge is a mechanism that directs $YND emissions (rewards) to specific pools, vaults, or strategies. Tokenholders vote on gauges to decide how incentives should be distributed across the ecosystem.

### 🎯 Purpose of This Category

- Allow third-party protocols, partners, and community members to propose new gauges.
- Provide a space for community review and feedback before moving proposals to Snapshot.
- Ensure all proposals follow a standardized format to make evaluation easier and more transparent.

### 🛠 How to Propose a Gauge

1. Read the full guide on GitBook: YieldNest Documentation – Gauge Proposals Guide.

- Explains why gauges matter.
- Walks through the governance flow.
- Includes do’s & don’ts for proposers.

1. Create a new topic here with the title format:  
[Gauge Proposal] Add Gauge for \<Protocol - Chain - Token Symbol\>
2. Fill in the forum template provided in this category.
3. Engage with the community: answer questions, clarify risks, and update your post if needed.
4. Once ready, the proposal will move to Snapshot vote. If approved, it proceeds to on-chain activation.

### ✅ Guidelines for Proposers

- Only protocol teams may commit bribes/co-incentives, community members are not expected to.
- Include audits, security references, and pool addresses to build trust.
- Be clear about expected impact (TVL, APR, integration benefits).
- Stay engaged during the discussion period, active participation increases approval chances.

### 🚫 Out of Scope

- General discussions not tied to a specific gauge.
- Marketing-only posts without technical or governance details.
- Duplicate or incomplete proposals (without using the template).
